Space is dark.

Very dark.

deadA body drifts in the flotsam of a shattered habitat orbiting a dead star. Shadows grow and shrink across the surface of the lifeless form in rhythm with its endless tumble through the frozen void. There’s something out there…

As work on ’48 Passengers’ begins to come to a close, the team has decided that the book’s title needs to reflect more than just non-player characters. With that in mind, Spica Publishing is pleased to announce that ’48 Passengers’ has been renamed ‘The Astral Splendour’. Read on for more about this luxury starship!

The ‘Astral Splendour’

Astral_Cover_TeaserThe Astral Splendour is the first of her class, built by United Starlift under contract from Splendour Starlines. Built at United’s Deimos Spaceyards orbiting Mars in Sol system, the ship completed space trials and was commissioned on 24 February 2159.

48 Passengers for Outer Veil

We’re pleased to announce that 48 Passengers, the first supplement for for Spica Publishing’s Outer Veil setting, is nearing completion!

There’s a lot packed into this little book so here’s an overview of what’s in store.

Travelling the Stars: The first chapter of 48 Passengers covers the five different types of passage available in the Outer Veil setting: High, Middle, Steerage, Working and Low passages. Realistic travel times are provided for travel to and from the 100 planetary diameters jump limit. Travel costs and a system for determining how many passengers are available in the Outer Veil are included.

Passengers: The second chapter contains 48 passenger entries, although there are actually more than 48 non-player characters! These passengers come from all walks of life, from the well-to-do, the middle class, the poor and the military. We’ve included some unusual passengers too, to liven things up a bit! All NPCs come with complete characteristic scores and modifiers, career histories, skills listings, events and mishap events, equipment and a description. Many NPCs also have a brief summary of their motivations, which Referees can draw on during the game.  The Referee can randomly choose NPCs by making a d66 throw.

The Astral Splendour: The final chapter of the book covers the events of the Astral Splendour’s maiden voyage in the Outer Veil setting. Full details of the Splendour’s crew are included along with full starship statistics and deckplans.
