Free desktop wallpapers now available, and new product updates!

Spica Publishing is pleased to announce the release of a series of free desktop wallpapers that you can download from our new Desktop Wallpaper page. These wallpapers are completely free of charge and are available in a variety of aspect ratios for your desktops, and include cover art from all our existing products… as well as from some new products that are on the way!

The long-awaited Allies, Contacts, Enemies and Rivals (ACER) book is currently pencilled in for an August 2010 release. Written by John Griffiths and Richard Hazlewood, it contains over 40 pages of fully detailed NPCs and organisations to help or hinder your characters, including a full Marine platoon and the crew of a Mercenary Cruiser!
System Book 1: Katringa is a brand new product in the pipeline (currently in layout and final editing), pencilled in for a September 2010 release. Written by Richard Hazlewood and Constantine Thomas, this is the first in a series of books describing fully detailed, realistic planetary systems and societies that you can insert into any Traveller or SF game.

You can download the wallpaper showcasing the cover art for these two new products (as well as our other products) from the new Desktop Wallpaper page. Additionally, we plan to post previews of both products soon so stay tuned for more announcements!

Welcome to the revamped Spica Publishing website!

Welcome to the new look Spica Publishing website! We’ve been very busy updating things here over the past couple of weeks, and the new site will give us lots of room to grow.

To navigate around the site, use the links at the top of the page (below the Spica Publishing logo). Alternatively, you can use the “On This Site” links in the sidebar on the right.

At the top of the sidebar you’ll find links to the DTRPG Spica store where you can purchase our PDFs, the Spica forums, Facebook, and Twitter pages (please register or follow us to keep up with the latest updates!). We’ve also got a direct feed from Spica Twitter, and some links to Other Sites of interest. If you’re looking for news posts about a specific topic, you can find it easily using the “News Topics” list, or you can search through the Archives by month.

We also have a shiny new blog (the “News & Updates” link at the top of the page) that is hosted on this site; we’ll be posting updates on new products, sales, and anything else related to Spica Publishing there, as well as updating the facebook and twitter pages. You can enter your email address in the “Subscribe to Blog!” form in the sidebar on the right of the page in order to receive emails whenever we post an update to the new blog. If you want to comment on any posts on the blog, just click on the title of the entry and then you can comment there.

Hopefully everything is working fine – if it isn’t then please let us know by commenting on this post (or by posting on the Spica forums).

Spica Internet reshuffle in progress

We are having a big internet reshuffle, and sadly the SP twitter account has had to go *for the time being*. We’ll be tweeting again soon, folks.

Spica Blog & Twitter pages updated

I’ve updated the colour schemes for this blog and the official Spica Publishing Twitter page.

Welcome to the Spica Publishing Blog.

Hello everyone!

Nemesis Class Pursuit Ship Book (NCPS)
We are now only 15 days away from the launch of the (even if I do say so myself!) highly excellent Nemesis Class Pursuit Ship book and PDF on 13 April 2009.

The pre-order period ends 2400 hours (BST) 12 April 2009, so make sure you get your order in by then! Remember, all pre-order customers will receive a free copy of the PDF from DTRPG.com and, as an added bonus, pre-order customers will now also receive a free copy of the Nemesis deckplan PDF! Bonus!

Career Book 2 (CB2)
CB2 is already underway and the writing is ticking along nicely. We’re hoping to have CB2 out in April 2009, so watch this space!

Allies, Contacts, Enemies and Rivals (ACER) Book
ACER has taken a bit of a back-seat due to the NCPS book, but is still on the cards for release in the next couple of months. Packed with NPCs for you Traveller game, it will be a useful resource for when Referees’ just don’t have time to roll up characters. We’re especially pleased with some of the concepts that have gone into this book, which we know will add extra “frakkin’ ay!” to the book!

Career Book 1 Overhaul for Second Edition (CB1)
Our first and most popular and successful title, CB1 is currently undergoing a major overhaul, including a revised cover as well as adjusted previous content and the addition of some new content. There were a series of minor issues (spelling mistakes, mainly) in the original CB1 that we’ve eliminated and we’ve also improved the format and layout of our unique Character Profile system, so now all NPCs in the book are formatted in the new style (which, incidentally, is the format in use for NPCs in the NCPS book).

CB1 2ed will be re-released as soon as the overhaul has been completed. Spica Publishing is willing to offer a second pre-order print run of CB1 2ed if there’s enough interest.

Suggestions for New Books
Spica Publishing is always willing to hear your ideas for new books! If you have any ideas for books, you can get in touch with us through this blog or our forums.

That’s all the Spica news for the moment, watch this space for the latest information, or join our forums at the website!
